ANOTHER THING I AM SICK AND TIRED OF

2 10 2012

I get so tired of seeing reports and reading about the abortion issue.  Over and over again, day after day for years now, I have heard about this one issue.  I am really sick and tired of hearing about it.

God set up this world in His own way.  I had nothing to do with it and neither did any other human being that I know of.  But there are always people who want to run everything, so they have been trying to change God’s Laws for a long time.  Most of this started in the 1960’s with the advent of the hippie class and their philosophies.  What they chose to believe was their business.  Not mine.  I have my own beliefs and I really don’t appreciate having someone tell me what I should or should not believe.

I believe in God and want to follow His ways.  Every single day of my life.  I have always felt this way.  And I try to do what I am supposed to no matter what it might be that day.   I firmly believe that abortion is murder.  Plain and simple murder.  Abortion seems to be a matter of out of sight, out of mind.  Cannot see the baby, so it is alright to kill it.   Maybe it would help if the mother were required to eat the baby after she kills it like some of the animals do.  Wouldn’t that be horrible though.  But then killing the baby is equally or more horrible.

And how is abortion any different than killing an old woman who has outlived her usefulness.  This could just as easily be done.  Pretty soon, people will be advocating that.  Saves money you know.

Of course advocates of abortion push the choice button.  What choice.  A woman has a multitude of ways to keep from becoming pregnant.  So why does she need a choice.   Obviously by the time she is pregnant, she has already made her choice.  And God is fully aware of the choice she has made.

When all is said and done, God will be the one who decides if her choice is a good one or a bad one.  She will have no choice in that decision. So, although I am 100% against abortion, I will not judge anyone.  That is God’s place, not mine.   God will take care of all that when it is His time.

Meanwhile, I am sick and tired of hearing all the rhetoric about how wonderful abortion is for everyone.  Just take a look at those holding up the signs advocating murdering a child.   Somehow, they all look the same.   Wonder if that is a side effect of abortion.

WHERE ARE THE PARENTS

19 08 2012

I’m sure it is just me, but I am wondering where in the heck all the parents have gone. I read in the papers, hear on the radio and see on the television that the whole community is gathering together to provide for all those things that the children need to start school.  They emphasize that the child must feel wanted, loved, and happy in order to start the new school year. This means he needs all the school supplies packed in a backpack.  And he needs a new haircut and school clothes and whatever else he might want.  And all this is provided happily by the community.

Now, don’t get me wrong.  I am not against any of this. I agree with this wholeheartedly.  It does help the child to get a good start in school for the coming year.

But my point is – where in the heck are the parents of these children.  I know not everyone is out of work.  And besides, if they are willing to work, they can find something to do to earn a little bit of money, enough to provide for their child to start to school.  Why are those parents not providing for their own children.

Believe me, I know what it is like to be flat broke over and over again.  And yet, somehow, some way, my husband and I always provided for those children to start to school.  And ours went to the parochial school where we had to buy uniforms, too.  And when I was really broke, we would eat frozen food that had been stored before we were so broke and buy one uniform for each child. Then I would wash and iron this one uniform each afternoon so they could wear it again the next day and the next and the next.

My parents provided for us also.  My father used to complain about having to pay the fees the schools assessed each family for those supplies we used at school. He said he paid taxes that were supposed to provide for that since public schools were supposed to be free for each child.  And he definitely had a point but that is another subject.  My point is that the parents should be providing for their own children these days just like we did before.

Instead, there is so little learning done in the public schools these days that most of those parents cannot keep a checkbook or even keep up with their own cash.  They do not pay their bills.  They do not provide even food for their children.  Why.  Why.    Why.  Is this but another example of what the 1960’s and its terrible behavior did to us?  And it has been handed down in the generations of those who will not work, will not try, will not provide for their own?

It is time for all these handouts to stop. It is time to require those parents to provide for their own children.  Instead, they are providing for themselves and let the community, i.e. government, provide for their offspring.  I don’t think so.  It is not the business of the government to provide.  It is the responsibility and the job of those parents to provide for their own children.  Period.  It should be required from each of them constantly, every day, until they get the idea of what responsibility means.  Evidently they do not know the meaning of the word.  It is Time!!!!

No child should grow up thinking that he gets his food from the school, his haircut free, and his school supplies provided with no input from his parents.  I personally think all this free stuff should be charged to the parents and they should be required to pay before they eat out, buy something shiny at the store, and buy more  drugs.  As is said, if you are willing to put up with this, then you can expect to put up with this.  Hopefully, the new administration of Romney and Ryan will put a stop to this behavior.  I certainly hope so.

Vote Republican this time around.  Our very existence as a free country depends upon your vote.  Vote Republican!

CONSECRATION TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY

11 08 2012

Virgin of Fatima, Mother of Mercy, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I consecrate myself to your Immaculate Heart.

By this consecration, I intend to live with you and through you that interior conversion so urgently demanded by the Gospel, a conversion that will free me of every attachment to myself and to easy compromises with the world so that, like you, I may be available only to do always the Will of the Father.

I resolve to entrust to you my life, O Mother most sweet and merciful, that you may dispose of it according to your designs of salvation in this hour of decision that weighs upon the world.  I pledge to live it according to your desires, especially as it pertains to a renewed spirit of prayer and penance, the fervent participation in the celebration of the Eucharist, the daily recitation of the holy Rosary, and an austere manner of life in keeping with the Gospel, that shall be to all a good example of the observance of the law of God and the practice of the Christian virtues, especially that of purity.

I promise to lead other souls with whom I come in contact to the practice of the First Saturday Devotions.

Realizing that atheism has caused a loss of faith to a great number of souls and that evil and sin are spreading throughout the world, I lift my eyes trustingly to you, O Mother of Jesus and my merciful, loving and powerful Mother, and I ask again today and await from Our Lord the salvation of all your children, O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

HOPE AND CHANGE

9 08 2012

We have all heard a million times about hope and change.  Don’t really know what that means.  It took $68 to fill my car with gas this last weekend.  Guess that means I hope, I hope, I hope that changes soon.  Or maybe it means that I no longer get any change from my dollar bills.  Not sure which it means.

I just hope that the change is that those who know the business start drilling for oil in this country so we can have some good, cheap gasoline in the next couple of years.  That shouldn’t be too hard to do.  There is enough oil below the ground to last us all the rest of our lives.   Why are we not using it!  It is time.  I am tired of hearing about the animals that we need to protect.   I’m sure you have seen the bears on the television screen who are so over-abundant that they are stealing candy from the candy store.  It is time to quit all this nonsense and get the good old U.S.A.back to being the country it has been for a long, long time.   Time for everyone to get up in the morning, put their shoes on and go to work.  Time to stop being important and go home and raise a family.  Time to start teaching the children what life is all about and that means responsibility, responsibility, responsibility.

Maybe that is what is meant by the term, Hope and Change.  Sure hope so.  We sure do need some change.

OUR LADY OF FATIMA – PART 13

25 07 2012

Within that year, Our Lord appeared to Lucia telling her of His pleasure about the consecration the Pope had made. However, she was told that the consecration was incomplete according to His wishes.

Lucia then wrote about this to her spiritual director saying that World War II would end soon.  In fact, the War did end quickly on the Feast of Our Lady.  But, Lucia was told that the conversion of Russia will not take place yet.  And if the Bishops of Spain heed Our Lord’s request for the true conversion of the peoples, good.  But if not, then Russia will once again be the enemy.

Lucia went on to explain that Our Lord is allowing himself to be appeased but He is very bitter and sorrowful that such a small number of souls are willing to follow His Law required of them.

Now the Lord asks this penance:  That every person must lead a life of justice in observance of His Law.  And He requires that this be known to all souls.  Our Lord says that many people think penance means great austerities and do not have the heart to follow His Law.

Sometime later, when Lucia was in the chapel at midnight, Our Lord came again.  This time He said, ‘The sacrifice required of every person is the fulfillment of his duties in life and the observance of My Law.  This is the penance that I now seek and require.’

He said that the consecration by the Holy Father is incomplete.  And now it cannot be completed until every individual, every home, every diocese and every country consecrates itself, after the example of the Holy Father to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

This personal consecration must have four elements.  GRACE, PENANCE, THE ROSARY AND REPARATION.  Our Lord spoke bitterly and sorrowfully about the small number of souls in His Grace.

GRACE:  Our Lady came to Fatima to bring peace to the world and GRACE is the foundation of peace.  Wars are punishment for the sins of the world.  Grace must prevail in souls in order for there to be peace in the world.  There must be peace between God and man in order for The Immaculate Heart of Mary to bring peace to the world.

Heroic sacrifices are not required of man.  Only the fulfillment of each one’s daily duties is required.  Sometimes these daily duties are hard to fulfill. Thus they automatically become works of penance and sacrifice.

PENANCE:  In order to have peace in the world, the PENANCE that Our Lord now seeks and requires is that each person must fulfill his duties in life and observe His Law.  Our Lord refers to this as man’s daily cross.  ‘If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.’

THE  ROSARY:  Our Lord loved His Mother deeply and so the true follower of Christ must have a true love for Mary His Mother.  Man must prove this love by the recitation of  THE ROSARY.  This, then, gives The Blessed Virgin Mary new power to crush the head of the Serpent and to destroy his evil power over the world.

REPARATION:  Communions of Reparation are also required to fulfill mankind’s personal consecration to Our Lady. Communions of REPARATION are made by following the First Saturday devotions. This devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary should be known throughout the world until it becomes a common practice to honor the Most Immaculate Heart of Mary.

If mankind does as Our Lord has asked, peace will come to the world.  There will be true peace between God and man at last.  GRACE, PENANCE, THE ROSARY and REPARATION are all that Our Lord asks of each individual in order to bring this peace to our world.

OUR LADY OF FATIMA – PART 12

17 07 2012

After the miracle at Fatima, people came by the hundreds to pray, to weep, to ask forgiveness, and to ask for blessings.  They brought money and produce to the Cova to thank The Blessed Virgin for favors. Maria da Capelinha who was taking care of the site had been gathering up the money.  But then, she didn’t know what to do with it.  She went to the home of Jacinta and Francisco and offered it to their father. He refused, but the Pastor was there and said that she should keep the money until some decision was made about it.

She continued to collect the money and to sell the produce which made for more funds.  People began to talk of building a chapel at the Shrine.  Then she and her husband were accused of taking the money for their own benefit.  After that, a small chapel was erected.  Someone offered to donate a statue and a procession was planned to place the statue in the chapel.  The government guards tried to intervene but a sudden thunderstorm drove them away.  The statue was quietly brought into the church, blessed and venerated and then hidden for awhile.  Later on, the statue was quietly moved into its permanent niche.  Then the statue had to be removed each night for fear of vandalism.  Two years later, someone did blow up the church but a bomb was also placed at the holmoak where Our Lady stood and it failed to detonate.  Now, the people gathered in front of the Capelinha home because the statue was kept there.   There were so many who wanted to see the statue that it was decided to move it to the Cova.  The people again decided to build a chapel and again, the government tried to intervene.  This time there were sixty thousand people who came for the veneration of the statue.  A large chapel was built later along with other buildings.

Later, while in the convent, Lucia was given permission by Our Lady to reveal the secrets of the Vision of Hell and the Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  In 1929, Our Lady appeared again to Lucia,  ‘I shall come to ask the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart.   If they heed my request, Russia will be converted and there will be peace.’  Our Lady went on to say that this consecration was to be made by the Holy Father in unison with all the bishops of the world.  Lucia  told her Confessors and was told to write it down. Then it was passed on to the Bishop and to the Holy Father.

Nothing was accomplished for three years.  Lucia wrote to the Bishop, adding the words of Our Lord, ‘As long as the King of France did not listen to my request (when He asked St Margaret Mary to obtain the consecration of France to the Sacred Heart by the king) the Holy Father will consecrate Russia to Me, but it will be late.’

Time passed and in March, 1938, Germany invaded Austria and World War II was begun in September, 1939.  Lucia was asked  by a Confessor if Our Lady mentioned the Pope’s name. She said ‘Yes, Our Lady spoke of Pius XI.  He answered that the war did not start under Pope Pius XI. Lucia then said that the annexation of Austria gave the occasion for the war.  Lucia was also asked about the great sign which was to appear when God would punish the world for its crimes.  She answered this was the appearance of the Great Northern Lights of 1938.

In 1940,Lucia wrote again to the Bishop of Leiria expressing her regret.  Then she was commanded to write to Pope Pius XII. She asked for the consecration of the world to Mary’s Immaculate Heart with a special mention of Russia.

In 1942, the Bishops gathered at the Cathedral of Lisbon to join the Holy Father in fulfilling the request of Our Lady. The Pope said these words.  ‘Give peace to the peoples separated from us by error or by schism and especially to the one who confesses such singular devotion to thee and in whose homes an honored place was ever accorded thy venerable icon; bring them back to the one fold of Christ under the one true Shepherd.’   On the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the Pope repeated this consecration at St. Peter’s in Rome with 40,000 people present.  This consecration marks the beginning of the Age of Mary.

OUR LADY OF FATIMA – PART 11

15 07 2012

tNow, Lucia was the only one of the three children left in this world.  Our Lady had told her She would never leave her alone but would be her comfort, but Lucia still missed her cousins.  Thousands of visitors came to the Cova at Fatima and many of them wanted to see and speak to Lucia.  They often came to her home asking questions of Lucia.  After a time, the visitors began to wear on Lucia.

In January of 1918, the Holy See, reestablished the diocese of Leiria, Portugal and sent the Reverend Joseph Coreia da Silva as Bishop.  He took possession of this See in August of 1920.  His duty was to investigate the complete facts regarding the apparitions at Fatima.  He would safeguard and implement true devotion to God and to His Holy Mother.  The Bishop was slow but prudent.  He insisted upon prayerful consideration of every detail.

He had his first meeting with Lucia on June 13, 1921.  He then invied Lucia and her mother to visit with him.  Because of all the commotion surrounding Lucia, the  Bishop suggested that she go to a convent school where no one would know her and where nothing would bother her.   And the B ishop had concluded that if all the cures that had already taken place at Fatima were true, then this would mean the apparitions were from Heaven. If not, all the commotion would soon die out.

The Bishop cautioned Lucia that she was not to tell anyone where she was going and she could not tell anyone at the school who she was.  Also, Lucia had to leave her home within five days.  And she could not even talk at all about Fatima.  Lucia was happy to do as the Bishop commanded her.  She was anxious to spend her time with Our Lord and Our Lady.

In the next few days, Lucia visited all the places she and her cousins had known, particularly the Cova, and where the Angel had appeared to them.   When it was time to leave her home, her mother accompanied her to the train station where another lady would then go with her to the school.  It was difficult to leave her mother, but she was obliged to do as the Bishop had said.

When she reached the school, the Mother Superior gave her a new name.  She would become Maria das Dores.  The Superior also warned Lucia never to disclose who she was.  She was welcomed at the school and loved by many of the other children.  She never mentioned Fatima but she did tell of Our Lady and how we should all try to please her.  At the end of her studies, she requested admittance into the Order, the Sisters of St. Dorothy.

Our Lady came to visit Lucia often in the convent.  She asked that the First Saturday be recognized as a day of reparation to Her Immaculate Heart.  The Child Jesus also appeared to Lucia with Our Lady in December of 1925.  Our Lady held a heart surrounded with sharp thorns.  The Child Jesus said,’Have pity on the Heart of our Most Holy Mother.  It is covered with the thorns with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment, and there is no one to remove them with an act of reparation.’

Our Lady said, ‘My daughter, look at my Heart encircled with the thorns with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude.  Do you at least try to console me and announce in my name that I promise to assist at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, go to Confession and receive Holy Communion, recite the Rosary and keep me company for a quarter of an hour while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary with the intention of making reparation to me.’

Lucia told of this terrible vision of Our Lady’s bleeding heart to her Superior and the Superior wanted desperately to spread the devotion but was told by her confessor that she could do nothing by herself.  A year later, the Child Jesus again came to Lucia and asked if she had spread the devotion of reparation to the Immaculate Heart of His Mother.  Lucia told what had happened.  The Child Jesus then said, ‘It is true that your Superior alone can do nothing, but with my grace she can do all.’  Lucia then wrote to her own mother, asking her to help in spreading this devotion. Over time, the devotion was known by all.

OUR LADY OF FATIMA PART 10

11 07 2012

Jacinta, still suffering with the influenza always offered up her sufferings for the salvation of souls.  She did not want any soul to go to the Hell she had seen and so she prayed constantly.  She confided her deepest thoughts to Lucia, telling her about the war that was to come soon and the many people who would die and the cities that would be burned to the ground and the many priests to be killed.  She also told Lucia about the light that would be shown in the sky when the war started.  And she always spoke of how, in Heaven, she would pray constantly for all.

A doctor came to their house and advised her parents to take her to a hospital at Ourem.  Jacinta was very afraid and did not want to leave her home, but in June, her father placed her on his donkey and took her to the hospital.  She received treatment for two months.  By now, she had a large wound on her chest which was open and running. The doctors realized she would be as well off at home, so she returned to her home.

She had a constant fever, pneumonia, tuberculosis and pleurisy.  She told Lucia that when she could, she got out of bed and said the Angel’s prayer, but could no longer bend her head to the floor, so stayed on her knees.  Lucia talked this over with a pastor and he advised that Jacinta should stay in bed to say her prayers.  She visited the Cova as long as she could, and attended Mass whenever possible.  It was very difficult for her to eat or drink, but she would force herself and then offer up this sacrifice.

Our Lady visited Jacinta many times during her illness.  Jacinta was told she would go to a hospital in Lisbon next.  This was an utter impossibility as she had no way to go there.  But in January 1920, a doctor stopped in Fatima to talk to the priest about the happenings and to visit Jacinta.  He recommended she go to Lisbon and she was sent there in February.  Her diagnosis was purulent pleurisy of her left cavity and fistulous osteitis of the seventh and eighth ribs on the same side.  Before she left, she cautioned Lucia once again not to reveal the special secret the Lady had confided to them.  She also said Lucia would establish the devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary throughout the whole world.

Jacinta and her mother rode the train to Lisbon but could find no place to stay.  They eventually knocked on the door of an orphanage of Our Lady of the Miracles.  They were welcomed there and Jacinta was well treated.  The Superior took personal care of her.  Jacinta had many visits from Our Lady and revealed to the Superior some of these.  Jacinta said if people amend their lives, Our Lord will forgive the world, but if they do not, the punishment will come. Beginning with Spain, great events will come sometime around 1940. She also told of offenses against Our Lord including sins of the flesh.  There would be fashions which offend Our Lord, marriages which will offend God, and governments which persecute the religion of Our Lord.  She said to be charitable to all, never criticize, have patience, and offer mortifications and sacrifices to Our Lord.  Confession, the Sacrament of mercy, should be approached with confidence and joy. Without Confession, there is no salvation.  She also said to be pure in body, preserve chastity.  To be pure in soul, avoid sin, never steal, lie or look at what would be sinful.

Eventually, she was moved to the hospital where she suffered even more for Our Lord and Our Lady.  The doctors operated and removed two of her ribs.  The anesthesia did not work well and she suffered more pain. She had someone write Lucia telling of the day and hour of her death.  Then Our Lady appeared again and took away all her pain much to the astonishment of the doctors.  She appeared the same, but the evening of February 20, 1920, she asked for the last rites of the Church.  A priest heard her Confession and promised to bring her Communion in the morning.  Jacinta asked that he bring it now, but he did not  At 10:30, she passed away without receiving Our Lord.  She was only 9 years old.

Her body was placed in the Church in a special room under lock and key.   The undertaker took only a few at a time to see her.  He said she looked alive and had an odor of a bouquet of flowers.  On September 12, 1935, her body was exhumed and found to be whole and incorrupt.  Her body was exhumed again in 1951, thirty years after her death and  had not decayed.

OUR LADY OF FATIMA – PART 9

19 06 2012

After the miracle of the sun at the Cova, the children were hounded constantly by others.  People came from everywhere to ask them questions and to pry into their thoughts.  Many came to learn the secret, but the children would always remain silent.  The three children had originally pledged themselves to silence and secrecy regarding Our Lady and the apparitions, not because they had been instructed to do so, but simply because they were sure this was what God expected of them.

They did have one friend who helped them immensely. The pastor in a nearby village had met them earlier and the children were immediately drawn to him.  They were free to visit with him often and to ask him any questions they wanted.  His counsel gave them much peace regarding all their difficulties and for this, they were most grateful.  However, the priest realized it was not his words that consoled them, but the acts of the Mother of God who was always in their hearts.

On May 13, 1917 at the time of the first apparition of Our Lady, the children had been told that Jacinta and Francisco would  both go to Heaven soon, but that Lucia was to stay in the world.

At that time, Francisco did not see Our Lady, but was told that if he said many Rosaries, he could see her.  By now, Francisco had seen the beautiful Lady and talked about it many times.  He spent much of his time saying the Rosary. He prayed constantly to console Our Lady and Our Lord. Later on, he said, ‘I liked to see the Angel so much, but I liked Our Lady much more.  What I liked best about the apparitions was seeing Our Lord in that light that the  Blessed Virgin put into our hearts.  I love God very much.  He is so sad because of so many sins. We must not commit even the smallest sin.’

The children lost all interest in play, preferring to spend their time in prayer.  Neither Jacinta nor Francisco were interested in school because it seemed a waste of time.  They preferred to spend their time in the presence of Our Lord in the Eucharist.

Both children had made their first Confession in the year of the apparitions, but their First Communion was put off for another year. Francisco failed the catechism test and had to wait longer to receive the Eucharist.  When Jacinta received Jesus in the Eucharist, Francisco was so upset that he stayed outside the church sobbing.

According to the children, Our Lady appeared to them several more times during the coming years. And their prayers had great power for intercession. One story is that of a man who was lost and Jacinta suddenly appeared to him and led him to the right road for home.  When the man told his story later, Jacinta had no recollection of it.  Lucia’s mother became gravely ill and was miraculously cured through Lucia’s faith.

In 1918, the whole Marto family was sick with the dreaded flu.  The father was the only one able to take care of the rest of the family.  In Lucia’s family, everyone became sick except for Lucia and she took care of the rest of her family.

Francisco became ever sicker over time with high fevers and loss of strength.  Our Lady appeared to both Francisco and Jacinta, telling them she would come for Francisco soon and then for Jacinta not long after.  Jacinta was told that she would go to two different hospitals and would suffer a great deal to save more souls.

Francisco improved and would walk to the Cova,  kneeling at the stump to pray.  Then he suffered a great deal more for the love of Our Lord and Our Lady.  Francisco begged to receive Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist before he died. This was arranged.  He made his final Confession and received Our Lord.  The next morning,  April 4, 1919,  he died peacefully at the age of 10 years.

DEAR GOD: THANK YOU FOR MY FATHER

24 05 2012

I grew up in this really great typical family.  There was a mother, father, grandmother, sister and brother.  We lived a perfectly normal life in the decade of the 1940’s.  Everyone was treated fairly, both in praise and in reprimands.  And I am so glad I was placed there by Almighty God because it couldn’t have been any better.

My father was always the last word on anything.  He was very fair and very kind and very strict.  But he always was striving to make people happy and to feel better about themselves.  We had this neighbor who was always talking about his ‘hogs head cheese’ that his family ate when he was growing up. My father had eaten some of that before, too, down in the country where it was made.  So he talked with the neighbor and they both agreed that cheese was just simply great.

Next month or so, the neighbor family invited us over for Sunday dinner. And guess what!  They served hogs head cheese, the real kind, made out of real hog’s heads. The neighbor had made a trip to the country just to get that for us.  We had been taught all our lives to be nice and complimentary and kind to anyone, so when it came time to eat that hogs head cheese, all us kids smiled and swallowed – really, really hard.  I remember my brother looked a little green, but he didn’t say so.  And it was all I could do to eat mine, especially thinking about those hog’s heads.  But we ate it and raved over how good it was.  My father was raving over it, too, complimenting the neighbor for such a wonderful treat.  But, oh boy, we were really glad to get back home so we could brush our teeth and say what we really thought about that hogs head cheese.

Another time, our Great Aunt Mary was coming for a visit.  I had never seen her before as it had been so long since she had visited.  She and her husband were driving from California just to see us.  She had helped in raising my father and so he was really excited about her visit.  He kept talking about how he wanted her to make some of that great chili she had made for him as a kid.  He kept saying it had big chunks of garlic in it and we would just love it.  Well, after visiting for a couple of days, Aunt Mary decided to make some of that chili that my father was just raving about.  You know, the one with the big chunks of garlic in it.

My father watched while she cooked and he was so anxious to taste.  That night  at dinner, we had garlic chili with a little meat thrown in for flavor.  It had so much garlic in it that it was all we could do to swallow it.  But we did.  And we all complimented Aunt Mary for such wonderful chili.  I can still taste that garlic every time I think about it.  But we were kind and thoughtful and smiled a lot even if we did smell sort of funny that evening.

It was truly a great family full of all the things that families did back then.  And lots of fun and happiness.  You might like to read a little more about this family of mine along with living history about what was really going on in the world around us.  My book IN THE 1940’S  tells all that.  The War was raging all over the world and we were living with the rationing and the allotment checks since my father went to War and the air raids and everything else that was going on.  It was a very interesting time and if you like my writing, you will really enjoy this book.

Each book only $10 plus $2 postage.  Send check or money order to BET   P.O. Box 2249   Benton, AR  72018    Thanks, Bet
